The Waterpark at The Depot is small by national (or even Minnesota) standards, but it has an amazing location in downtown Minneapolis. The Depot is a historic area that’s within walking distance of some of the city’s most popular attractions. Of course, you may not even want to leave the building considering all the fun to be had with the water park, restaurant and bar, and history center all onsite. There’s even an enclosed ice rink.
Also at The Depot are two hotels where you can stay while you enjoy the water park and other attractions. The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel is a luxury hotel for short-term guests. The Residence Inn by Marriott is designed for extended stays, featuring amenities like full kitchens and pet-friendly rooms. You don’t have to stay at either of these hotels to access the water park, though. Day passes are available separately (however, hotel guests do get a discount).
The indoor water park is 15,000 square feet and includes play equipment and amusements aimed at young children. The centerpiece of the water park is – you guessed it – a train that spews water every so often. Some of the other attractions include:
- Three-Story Water Slide
- Large Whirlpool
- Snack Bar
The indoor water park at The Depot probably isn’t the main reason to visit. However, it does nicely round out the other features of The Depot, which – all things considered – is an awesome place to visit in the Twin Cities. If you’re coming from out of town, staying at one of the hotels puts you close to all the action of downtown Minneapolis. If you live in the area, a trip to The Depot Waterpark offers a refreshing oasis away from the cold of winter, the humidity of summer, and all the wet and gloomy days in between.
Not quite what you’re looking for? No prob. There are plenty of other indoor water parks in Minneapolis and the surrounding area to choose from.
