If you’re coming to Wisconsin Dells, it’s likely for one purpose – to get your splash on. But you can’t stay in the water all the time (think of the wrinkles!). Fortunately, there are plenty of things to do in Wisconsin Dells that don’t involve snapping on a wristband. While not a complete list by any means, here are some of the top Wisconsin Dells attractions to enjoy in between visits to your favorite water parks.
Note that not all of these attractions in Wisconsin Dells are open year-round, and some have different offseason hours. If you’re visiting an indoor water park during the winter, you might want to check the appropriate schedule before making plans.
1. Rick Wilcox Magic Theater
This theater hosts the family-friendly Grand Illusion Show, a popular Dells attraction in which illusionist Rick Wilcox wows the crowd with a combination of magic and comedy. The theater is open year-round, but the show schedule varies by season.
2. Wisconsin Deer Park
If you have young children along, this petting zoo is a no-brainer. Your kids will delight in mingling with the deer, which walk right up to you as you stroll through the park. Wisconsin Deer Park is open mid-April through late October.
3. Knuckleheads Bowling & Family Entertainment Center
This 80,000 square foot indoor amusement park features a bowling alley, roller coaster, go-karts, bumper cars, arcade with redemption center, and many more attractions. It’s weatherproof and open year-round, just like the many indoor water parks in Wisconsin Dells.
4. The Tommy Bartlett Show
This daredevil show has been a Wisconsin Dells favorite for 60 years. The Tommy Bartlett Show features water skiing, boating, and aerial tricks, with a healthy dose of comedy mixed in. Runs daily from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day weekend.
5. Crystal Grand Music Theater
This music venue brings to mind another famous tourist mecca – Branson, Missouri. A lot of acts that were big in the 70s, 80s, and 90s perform here, including both rock and country performers. Shows are scheduled at all times of year.
6. Big Sky Drive In
Located just east of Wisconsin Dells, this drive in movie theater shows double features after dusk – just like they did in the old days. Opens for the weekends in early May, nightly from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
7. Wizard Quest
This fantasy themed attraction casts you in the role of an adventurer exploring a 13,000 square foot interactive environment on a quest to rescue imprisoned wizards. The 90-minute adventure is like being inside a computer game. Wizard Quest is open year-round, though hours vary depending on the season.
8. Sundara Spa
Most of the attractions listed here are aimed at kids. Here’s one for the grownups. Sundara Spa is one of the top rated spas in the country, with a full list of services such as facials, massages, and body treatments.
9. Timber Falls Adventure Golf
Miniature golf is a staple of family vacations, so it’s no surprise that one of the best tourist towns in the country has a lot of courses to choose from. Timber Falls Adventure Golf is probably the most popular – and definitely the most scenic.
10. Wisconsin Dells Boat Tours
Wisconsin Dells is more than just a town full of water parks. If you’re interested in getting a different perspective on the area, one great way to do it is to take a scenic boat tour of the sandstone cliffs on the Wisconsin River.
See, there are lots of things to do in Wisconsin Dells that don’t involve donning a bathing suit. This list barely scratches the surface, and doesn’t even include the many fantastic restaurants and bars in town. Of course, the best Wisconsin Dells attractions will always be its world-class water parks. But when you’re not splashing and sliding, these other activities are a good way to keep the fun going.
