Minnesota has a ton of indoor water parks, many of which are clustered in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area. It’s not the largest water park around, but if you’re looking for something different, the Wild Woods Water Park in Elk River belongs high on your list of options. With a charming “river town” theme and plenty of rides and slides, this indoor water park is a nice year-round diversion for both area residents and visitors.
The water park is attached to the Holiday Inn Elk River, so you can rent a room and enjoy a weekend of fun without ever leaving the premises. Passes to the water park are included with every room. Alternatively, you can purchase a day pass to the park without booking a room at the Holiday Inn.
At 30,000 square feet, this is a mid-sized indoor water park – large enough to house a lot of attractions, but small enough to easily keep track of a group of kids. There are no true standout features such as a surfing simulator or water coaster, but it has all the basics. Here are some of the things you can look forward to:
- Two Tubes Slides
- Body Slide
- Lazy River
- Basketball Hoops
- Toddler Pool (Buddy’s Playland)
- Snack Bar
- Arcade Onsite
Wild Woods Water Park is not open every day of the year, so make sure to check the schedule before making plans to visit. This indoor water park may not be one of the largest in the region, but it’s worth a visit if you live in the area or are traveling to the Twin Cities with family. In the summer, it’s a great place to take kids because it provides an enclosed area with a roof overhead that blocks UV rays. At other times of year, it’s a simply great place to catch a break from the weather.
